"The ram's horn motif represents fertility, heroism, abundance and manhood and in Anatolia, is second in importance only to the mother goddess. Initially, the role of the male in reproduction was not fully comprehended: consequently, more attributes were ascribed to the female, as she was considered the supreme power in reproduction. The same approach held true even when male deities became predominant. The horn has been identified with manhood throughout history, as it indicated power and strength. In Anatolia, however, man hood represented fertility. This illustrates the fact that the role of the male in reproduction had been recognised."
